'THE EPITAME OF A ROCKY OUTCROP' OAK DISPLAY PLINTH – TRUE TO NATURE

Every so often an amazing piece of wood pops up that shouts out to you what it should be called, and in our opinion this is that piece of wood. Hence the title 'The Epitame of a Rocky Outcrop'

There are two main areas of outcrop, the main one being at the front of the plinth and the smaller one at the back. What they are in actual fact are the development of oak burrs growing on the side of the oak tree. The majority of this plinth is live-edge, and on the surface there are gnarly swirls of grain from the developing effects of the wood burr. The rest of the surface has a lovely typical oak grain along with a changing hue to the overall look

To create this item it was a labour- but of love, as many hours have been spent in revealing its natural beauty and now that it is complete it is looking for its new owner & pride of place in its new home

Although we have photographed this plinth with whisky on it, it would successfully display the likes of Brandy, Cognac, Sherry, Gin, Wine etc etc.

This plinth comes with a decorative small half sized hand-turned oak barrel with two burned grooves to represent barrel hoops, and a recessed area on the top with one large & one small real acorn for decor  

This “True to Nature” plinth works with the natural character of the wood which we enhance and work with (no fillers in here folks)

Sanded to a very fine grade and when finishing products have been applied, has made this a very tactile piece

This display plinth is finally finished off with Oak and Still Creations special application method and recipe of pure beeswax and mineral oil by submerging it in a warm bath of our beeswax conditioner, allowed to dry, buffed up & repeated and finally buffed again to a high end finish

Dimensions of oak half barrel: approx.48mm diameter x 36mm height

This listing shows the actual item that you will receive as this display plinth is a one-off, as no two bits of wood grain are ever the same

For the after-care of this plinth we would highly recommend the purchase of Oak and Still Creations wax conditioner & applying a small amount from the tin, rubbing into the surface with a lint-free cloth.
