ASH 'WHALE STYLE' YAKISUGI SERVING BOARD
Only 1 in stock
We are delighted to present our latest retro addition – a truly wonderful high-end Yakisugi ‘Whale style’ serving board which would make a stunning stand out display within your home
In this instance we have photographed this unique board to show a selection of sliced tomatoes, mozzerella & basil leaves (Caprese salad) however its versatility allows many other uses eg. for displaying continental meats, cheeses, Sushi etc etc..
The board’s intense striking black colour is a great contrasting backdrop making your food temptingly visually pop out and accentuate the colours & textures of the food. It is a perfect addition to any table whether you are entertaining friends or celebrating a special occasion. The style, colour, amazing wood grain & texture of this serving board makes it a real talking point
From a choice piece of quality kiln-dried ash wood we have hand-sketched our own design and applied the traditional Japanese Yakisugi burning method, raising the grain and re-burning until truly blackened (no stains or dyes have been used) resulting in a food-safe finish
We recessed & fixed a realistic quality (food safe) raised glass eye into the board & the wood has been finished with our own natural beeswax conditioner
Dimensions of the board: approx 510mm at longest x 200mm at widest x 15mm thick
The underside has our inlaid company logo
Please note – the serving board shown in this listing is not the actual one you will receive as it is for our photographic purposes. However you will receive one of the same sizing as listed, but the wood grain & the burning will vary to a degree
For the after-care of this board we would highly recommend the purchase of Oak and Still Creations wax conditioner & applying a small amount from the tin, rubbing into the surface with a lint-free cloth. Allow to sit for 15-20 minutes then buff off with another lint-free cloth to a sheen. Can be purchased by clicking on this link: our beeswax conditioner
Please note- Food and ornamental items including the mini forklift are not included
