DOUGLAS FIR (Yakisugi style) DISPLAY PLINTH

This amazing Douglas Fir plinth has been specially hand-chosen for its knotty appearance, especially for the central knot and would grace any home setting. Its versatility would allow you to display a whole variety of items such as ornaments, treasured bottles of alcohol, perfume bottles or even a much loved framed family photo

Due to the undulating surface the larger sanded area (as seen) is the main display area – approx. 2/3 of its overall length

All in all a unique beauty !

Made from kiln-dried Douglas Fir we have applied the traditional Yakisugi wood burning method followed by painting the surface with vintage duck egg blue acrylic paint. The burning process leaves resinous knots & grain peaks sitting proud, which allows us to sand them down to highlight them beautifully resulting in a very tactile & visually flowing piece

This display plinth is finally finished off with Oak and Still Creations special application method and recipe of pure beeswax and mineral oil by submerging it in a warm bath of our beeswax conditioner, allowed to dry, buffed up & repeated and finally buffed again to a high end finish

This listing shows the actual item that you will receive as this display plinth is a one-off, as no two bits of wood grain or burning are ever the same

For the after-care of this plinth we would highly recommend the purchase of Oak and Still Creations wax conditioner & applying a small amount from the tin, rubbing into the surface with a lint-free cloth.
